About Chisels
There are three major types of chisels that you need for your
woodworking bench. The paring chisel, the butt chisel and the firmer chisel are
important to complete all the tasks necessary. The firmer chisel is the
mid-length of the three, and it can withstand the additional strike with a
hammer.

Comments on Firmer Chisels
"This chisel has a hornbeam handle with a hoop ferrule, and
its well polished blade was easy on the hands. It didn't take much
effort to put the tool into service, and its feel, balance, and
performance made it easy to like. The side bevels are sufficient for
dovetail work and the cutting edge held up about average."

Since 1858 the family owned company of Wilh. Schmitt & Comp. in
Remscheid - Germany, has been producing high quality woodworking tools.
These tools are 100% manufactured in Germany. Each chisel is hand forged from a
special High-Carbon steel, ground.
Hardened to 61 Rockwell, and then polished and sharpened, in essentially the
same way for nearly 150 years.
